TREP, the TRansposable Elements Platform

Superfamily DIRs                   RYD

Full classification: Retrotransposon, LTR, DIRs

DIRs elements are Class 1 transposons.

They are relatively rare, but were found in animals, plants, fungi and some other eukaryotes. Upon insertion, they create a 0 bp Target site duplication (TSD).
