TREP, the TRansposable Elements Platform

Full classification: DNA-transposon, TIR, Transib

Transib elements are Class 2 transposons.

They are found in animals and fungi. Not so well characterised. Upon insertion, they create a 5 bp Target site duplication (TSD).

Sequence domains

TIR5: Terminal inverted repeat
Function: Contains motifs that are recognized and bound by the transposase. Essential for transposition.

Function: Required for excision and insertion
